Optimize sensitive images without uploading them

Private Browser Mode runs a WebAssembly image pipeline (wasm-vips and jsquash/avif) directly in your browser. Supported files are compressed and converted on your own device — no upload, no platform result URL, no server analytics, and no monthly image credit spent.

  • Supported files never leave your device
  • No platform URL, dashboard history, or server analytics
  • No cloud fallback and no quota usage in private mode

How it works

Two explicit, predictable modes

Optimagio has two canonical account states. Cloud only (sync) sends everything through the Optimagio server pipeline with normal quota, accounting, and reporting. Browser only (private) keeps supported files and results on your device with no platform URL, no dashboard history, no server analytics, no cloud fallback, and no bandwidth charge.

Honest about its limits

Because there is no silent cloud fallback in private mode, an unsupported format or a WebAssembly encode failure becomes a clear unsupported/error state instead of quietly uploading your file. Private results can be exported locally, but they do not create saved or verified dashboard reports — those come only from cloud platform results.

Why it matters

Local processing, when privacy is the point

01

On-device encode

wasm-vips and jsquash/avif compress and convert images in the browser, with no server round trip.

02

Nothing logged

Private Browser Mode is not written to analytics; only your local session sees the savings.

03

No quota burn

Local optimization does not consume monthly image credits or bandwidth.

04

No silent fallback

Unsupported files surface an honest error rather than being uploaded behind your back.

05

Local export

Download your optimized files locally; nothing is persisted to the platform.

06

Your choice

Switch to Cloud only any time you want batches, API, storage, reports, or Site Audit.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do my images get uploaded in Private Browser Mode?

No. In Private Browser Mode, supported images are processed entirely in your browser with WebAssembly. They never leave your device, and there is no platform result URL or cloud fallback.

Does private mode use my monthly quota?

No. Local optimization in Private Browser Mode does not consume monthly image credits or bandwidth, because no accepted platform result is created.

What happens if a file is not supported locally?

It surfaces a clear unsupported/error state rather than silently uploading to the cloud. You can switch to Cloud only mode to process it through the server pipeline.

Can I still get reports in private mode?

Private results can be exported locally, but saved and verified dashboard reports are created only from cloud platform results.
