Common questions before you commit
Will I be charged automatically if I exceed my plan?
No. Optimagio does not run metered overage billing. If you hit a limit, the API returns a clear quota response and you can upgrade or wait for the next monthly window. Hard caps protect your budget by design.
Do failed optimizations count toward my quota?
No. Rejected or unsupported files (wrong format, too large, decode failure) do not consume optimization credits. Only accepted optimized results count.
Do you change my website automatically?
Never. Optimagio scans, generates fix packs, and serves optimized images via API or our CDN. We never push files into your site or modify originals on disk.
Can I cancel later?
Self-service billing is not live yet, so there is nothing to cancel. When paid plans open, cancellation is one click and your files stay for 60 days afterward.
Can I upgrade when I hit a limit?
Yes — contact us and we will move your account to the higher tier with the right quota.
What usage counts toward delivery bandwidth?
Only accepted optimized result bytes served through Optimagio CDN or storage. Original upload bytes, browser CPU, and temporary browser storage do not count. Private Browser Mode results have no Optimagio platform URL and do not count. Included delivery is EU/NA Standard or approved Volume; high-cost global Standard regions require explicit Global Delivery opt-in. All bytes use decimal SI units.
How long do stored optimized files stay in my account?
Account storage retention follows the current access tier. Explicit account erasure removes data immediately through the privacy flow.
How much work can I run in parallel?
Free runs 1 async batch job at a time, Starter runs 3, Pro and Business run 8, and Scale concurrency is contract-defined. Extra jobs queue and resume automatically as slots free up; uploads, pause/resume, and SSE progress stay live across reloads.
Can I use the API without Site Audit?
Yes. Site Audit and the optimization API are independent surfaces. You can use one, the other, or both — and the same plan limits apply.
Can I use this only for audits?
Yes. If you only need Static Site Audit and fix-pack export, Starter is enough for small sites and Pro covers most active products. You do not have to use the optimization API.
Is this suitable for agencies?
Yes. Business adds 3 workspace seats, white-label exports, 50,000 audit URLs/month, and 24/7 priority support. Multi-client workflows usually settle on Business or a contracted Scale plan.
Is there a free trial for paid tiers?
The Free plan is the trial — it is permanent and covers real optimization, audits, and API access at small scale. There is no separate time-limited trial for Starter, Pro, or Business.
Which optimization modes are available on each tier?
Free runs in Cloud-only mode. Starter, Pro, Business, and Scale unlock the two-mode picker: Cloud-only for platform results and Private Browser Mode for supported files that must stay local.
Are annual prices active?
Annual previews show 2 months free from the same pricing metadata as the public API. Monthly quota windows still reset every calendar month. Self-service annual activation is currently unavailable.
Can I change access tiers, and what if I need more than Scale?
Self-service tier changes are unavailable while billing is disabled. Contact us for access-tier changes or custom Scale capacity.
What image formats do you support?
JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and AVIF — both as input and output. The API picks the best format for each request when you let it auto-decide.
